## March: Reactivation

### First Inspection (end of March)

**Purpose:**
- Assess colony condition
- Identify problems
- Set action plan

**What to Check:**
1. **Queen presence** - look for eggs and larvae
2. **Colony strength** - how many frames covered
3. **Stores** - honey and pollen
4. **Health** - disease signs

**Actions:**
- Remove old black frames
- Replace wet bottom boards
- Combine weak colonies
- Feed if necessary

### Spring Cleaning

**Clean:**
- Blocked entrances
- Dead bees
- Excess propolis
- Mold from moisture

**Disinfect:**
- Use 4% caustic soda solution
- Or scorch with blowtorch
- Let dry completely

## April: Development

### Week 1-2

**Space Expansion:**
- Add second brood box if needed
- Place new frames with foundation
- Move honey frames to sides

**Stimulative Feeding:**
- Start feeding with thin syrup (1:1)
- Give 200-300 ml every 2-3 days
- Goal: stimulate egg laying

### Week 3-4

**Swarm Control:**
- Check every 7-10 days
- Look for queen cells
- Place anti-swarm mesh if needed

**Strengthening:**
- Add brood frames from strong colonies
- Create artificial swarms
- Balance strengths

## May: Peak

### Week 1-2

**Placing Honey Supers:**
- When brood covers 8+ frames
- Place queen excluder
- Start with 1 honey super

**Swarm Prevention:**
- Ensure adequate space
- Good ventilation
- Remove queen cells

### Week 3-4

**Intensive Monitoring:**
- Check every 5-7 days
- Add honey supers as needed
- Keep detailed records

**Harvest Preparation:**
- Identify strongest colonies
- Prepare extraction equipment
- Plan harvest dates

## June: Peak

### First Harvest

**Right Timing:**
- When 75%+ cells are capped
- Before black locust bloom
- In evening or early morning

**Technique:**
1. Use smoker carefully
2. Remove bees with brush or blower

- Dry frames returned for cleaning
- Reuse foundation
- Save some honey frames for winter

## General Spring Tasks

- Visual activity check
- Ensure fresh water
- Observe flight

### Every 10 Days

- Internal inspection
- Space management
- Strength assessment

### Monthly

- Preventive treatment (if needed)
- Deep cleaning

## Common Problems

### Weak Colonies

**Solutions:**
- Combine with strong colony
- Give capped brood
- Feed regularly
- Replace queen

### Swarming

**Prevention:**

- Young queen
- Remove queen cells
- Artificial methods (make controlled swarms)

### Varroa

**Monitoring:**
- Use monitoring bottom boards
- Count natural drop
- Treat on time if needed

## Record Keeping

**Each Inspection:**
- Date and time
- Weather
